About Plowshares: Plowshares is Central New York's premiere multicultural craftsfair, featuring almost 100 local craftspeople and community organizations. A beautiful community of activists, conscientious consumers and fair traders gather for a weekend of commerce and communing at the Plowshares Craftsfair and Peace Festival. Plowshares is an opportunity to step into the kind of world we’re working so hard to create: a place of justice, of peace, of compassion, of environmental sustainability. This is Plowshares under COVID, so if you have been before, it will have some new challenges - but it will have the same spirit. So bring your good spirit and good cheer!

Check out the crafters & community groups that will be at the event here.

Check out the entertainment schedule for the weekend here.

Volunteers needed: help us make the event a success! Plowshares is a labor of love that comes together thanks to the help of many volunteers. Sign up to volunteer here. Since we are reinventing Plowshares for the second year in a row, volunteers are even more necessary than usual. Please get involved in helping out.

About the venue: We’re excited to be at the Science and Industry building at the New York State Fairgrounds this year! The space is very large and less sectioned off, with exceptionally high ceilings and an excellent ventilation system.

Challenges & accommodations for the weekend:

  • Bathrooms: During the Plowshares weekend, the Science & Industry Building will not have running water due to ongoing construction (made more difficult by supply and staff issues caused by the pandemic). This means there will be no usable bathrooms in the building, However, there will be working bathrooms in an adjacent building, so those with the ability may walk there and use those facilities. There will also be several Porta Potties, including some wheelchair accessible, just outside the Science & Industry building doors. These will also provide easier access for children, The Porta Potties will be equipped with hand sanitizer, and there will be hand sanitizer throughout the building.

  • Water: Bottled water will be available - donations accepted, never expected. Bottles will be recycled. Feel free to bring your own water bottle.

  • Food: It is still being worked on, but not likely to happen. We will keep you posted. There will be limited space for sitting to rest, but not to hang out for an extended period.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out - send an e-mail to More information and event details are still forthcoming.

Cannot wait to see you all in December!
