Justice for Palestine

Founded in the wake of the December ‘08 Israeli attack on Gaza, Justice for Palestine is a community educational and organizing project. We provide grassroots education and generate political pressure needed to re-orient US policy toward a just peace. Coordinated by the Syracuse Peace Council, it includes people active in the local Methodist Task Force for Middle East Peace, the Islamic Society of Central New York, Al Huda Muslim American Society Mosque and Syracuse Jews for Peace.

Ellen Grady’s Statement to the Court

On Friday Nov., 15, 2024, members of the Downtown Berrigan Collective and upstate peace activists went to the Syracuse Federal Building to demand access to the offices of New York’s US Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to “exercise our right to petition the government for a redress of grievances”.
They specifically were asking the Senators to uphold the law and support the six Senate Joint Resolutions of Disapproval that would block the sale of U.S. weapons to Israel. Ellen Grady was arrested and charged with not following the order of the DHS and blocking a doorway. She went to trial on 2/26/25, and was sentenced on March 12, 2025. Read her statement here.
