JULY 2022 THE ONONDAGA NATION REGAINS 1023 ACRES
The Onondaga Nation will recover more than 1,000 acres of forest lands in the Tully Valley through an historic agreement with New York State and the federal government. This property, identified for restoration and preservation as part of the Onondaga Lake Natural Resource Damages and Restoration process, will now be returned to the care of the Onondaga Nation.
JUNE 2022 SPEECH GIVEN TO POPE FRANCIS
Three Indigenous delegations: Metis, Inuit, and First Nations, met with Pope Francis in private audiences at the Vatican during the week of March 28 to March 31, 2022 leading up to his apology. The First Nations delegation of 15 included chiefs, elders, spiritual advisors, and youth delegates who all spoke their truths of our Indigenous peoples to Pope Francis.

APRIL 2022 UPDATES ON NOON EFFORTS
The Columbus Statue in downtown Syracuse still looms, physically and figuratively, over residents of the area. NOON remains committed to assisting the efforts to remove it from its current location, so that Columbus and the legacy of genocidal settler colonialism that he represents no longer receive such public celebration in Syracuse. On March 11th, in a temporary setback, the judge presiding over the lawsuit brought by the Columbus Monument Corporation—a group of citizens attempting to prevent the City of Syracuse from executing its plan to remove the statue—issued a decision against the City.
