Peace Action 2015 Youth Award

Are you a high school student or do you know a high school student who has been involved in activities working for peace and justice to better our world?

Peace Action of CNY, part of the largest grassroots peace organization in the country, began locally as the Nuclear Weapons Freeze in the early 1980's.  It has presented awards to local peace activists for many years, but began recognizing young peace activists 13 years ago.  We are looking for high school students in Onondaga County who have shown a devotion to peace, justice, and protecting the environment.  These students should have engaged in activities - through school, place of worship, or community - who demonstrate their passion to work on the underlying causes of war, violence, and injustice.  Peace Action hopes this recognition will help young people to become more aware of the issues of peace and justice in our communities, our country and our world.

Winners of the award will be recognized at a special event in the late spring and will receive a small stipend to support their activism.  Parents, teachers, and friends will be invited to come and hear what young activists are doing in our community.

Please fill out the application or give it to a student you would like to encourage to do so.  Deadline for applications is April 15, 2015.
